Who We Are

Jennifer and Mark Newsome started visiting Beaufort as children. Like so many children of North Carolina’s Triangle area (Jenn’s from Raleigh and Mark grew up outside Hillsborough in rural northern Orange County), they visited the beaches of Carteret County on family vacations. These trips always included forays into Beaufort.

Nearly 18 years after they met and discovered a shared love for Beaufort, they have three children of their own and spend tons of time in Beaufort (they live in the central North Carolina town of Burlington…though they are planning a permanent move to Beaufort soon!).

With tons of help from Mark and the kids, Jenn owns and operates, Southern Girl Travel, LLC, a travel agency and consultancy specializing in trips to coastal destinations and Disney vacations (especially cruises). You can connect with her on Facebook and through the Southern Girl Travel website.

When not helping out with Southern Girl Travel, Mark thinks a lot about leisure, and works by day in the wild and crazy world of accounting. You can connect with him through LinkedIn and Google+.

The kids – Veronica, Cecilia, and Becket – spend school days at the Bradford Academy learning to use Latin against their parents. They’re planning a new project to be known as the Southern Kids Travel Blog…we’ll see how that one goes.
